I like this museum not only exhibition but also architecture design & interior design detail.
Especially the earth display called “Geo-Cosmos” area is really cool..!
Although exhibition itself is for school kids, but toddler or pre-school kids would enjoy here as there are many playful button or gimmick everywhere.
English subtitles are all written.

What’s like MIRAIKAN?
“MIRAI” means Future in Japanese, and “MIRAI-KAN” is nickname of National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation.
Overall, there are 3 categories +α :
- Permanent Exhibition : Include Geo-Gosmos, original installation about Space, Earth, Life, Robots, and future.
- Special Exhibition : Limited time only. Need another fee to see.
- Dome Theater : Planetarium (5 or 6 programs a day).
- Kids space : Small playground space for kids (entry number limited)
It will take about 1-2 hours for permanent exhibition,
Another 1 hour if you see special exhibition.
My favorite kids space is now too popular to get in though,,, I want you to try on weekday, not weekend or holiday.
Location
Located in Odaiba area.
5 minute walk from “Tokyo International Cruise Terminal station”, or 4 minute walk from “Telecom Center station” of Yurikamome monorail.
Not so much shops or restaurants around this building – better bring something to eat / drink for kids.

Indoor playground area for kids “Curiosity Field“
Good thing for family with small kids is, there is special kids play area on 3F.
Admission free, very popular for Japanese parents.
For safety reason they limit the number of kids (30 children) and 45min play time.
You need to get numbered ticket on weekend, at 10:00 or 13:00. (visit 3F)
Curiosity Field has a swap-in and swap-out system with 45-minute time slots for visitors.
It is not possible to book to use Curiosity Field in advance, so please head directly to the Curiosity Field entrance on the day of your visit to Miraikan.
If there is a large number of users on weekends or public holidays, numbered tickets will be issued.
