[ Admission Free ] Best 3 Free Museums in Tokyo for Family with kids

There are several free museums in Tokyo, but most of them are for adults and in Japanese language only.

These museums below are admission free, good access for travel visitor, and mainly for children to have fun & learn.
Most of installations are just like toys – no language barrier for kids.

Tokyo Fire Museum

5min from Shinjuku, 20min from Tokyo station by subway (Marunouchi-line)

Free-admission, you can enter directly from “Yotsuya-sanchome” subway station exit “no.2”.
So doesn’t need to be wet when it’s raining outside.

Mainly 2 – 6 years old kids seems having fun most. Probably 1-2hours is enough.

1min from “Yotsuya-sanchome” subway station (Marunouchi-Line)

*Not “Yotsuya” station, “Yotsuya-sanchome” station!! Even Japanese is confused.

Tokyo Police Museum

Compact museum on Ginza main street, free to enter very casually.

You can learn about Japanese police and touch actual police car / motorcycle / helicopter on display.
*Uniforms are available in sizes 100/120/140cm for boys and girls.

1-6years old kids might enjoy most. Probably 30min – 1hour might be enough.

GAS Science Museum ( GAS-te-Nani )

Admission-free Science museum to learn about gas operated by Tokyo-Gus Company, located near Toyosu-fish market or Toyosu Shopping mall.
Renewed in 2021 – There are many touch-game-style exhibitions for kids. Lawn on roof top of building.

1-12years old kids might enjoy most. 30min – 1.5hour might be enough.

Minato Science Museum in Tranomon

Small free-museum located near Toranomon Hills or Tokyo Towor, Open until 20;00 !

It’s mainly for Japanese kids but visitor can enjoy casually as there are English subtile for all exhibitions.
I think about 3 years old – school kids might enjoy here most.
Probably 30min – 1hour might be enough.
