Shinagawa Station is a large station where Shinkansen(bullet train) heading WEST stop. (to/from Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima…)
Therefore, this area is recommended for someone planning to visit west side of Japan by bullet train.
Also it’s convenient for who use Haneda Airport. Only 20-30min by train.
Although the atmosphere of the area is mostly business-oriented, with its great transportation links, it’s highly recommended for the people I mentioned above.

[ About another Prince Hotels ]
There are another 4 kinds of Prince hotel (different tier) around here – it’s confusing for me too….
But when you think of hotels for kids – I think those 4 are more for adults.
But if you would like to enjoy the Japanese garden, They have wonderful garden in the middle of those 4 hotels.
It’s on the hill,, 10min walk from station. Slope might be a bit difficult for parents with stroller & luggage. If you don’t mind it’s also good. There is hidden nice garden inside property.
it’s located in the back of hill & garden. Decent-Japanese atmosphere.
It’s more calm, relaxing mood hotel for adults.
Japanese ryokan style available only 16rooms, but best for adults, not for young kids.

If you go to other city by Bullet Train
If you planning to visit also Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Tohoku, Kanazawa, Hakuba, etc…
You would definitely use Bullet train (Shinkansen) run by JR (Japan Railway), and the main hub station is Tokyo station.
If you use Bullet train, consider JR PASS ticket, or JR Regional Pass issues only for non-Japanese visitors.

The “JR Pass” refers to the Japan Rail Pass, a special pass available for foreign tourists visiting Japan.
It allows unlimited travel on almost all JR (Japan Railways) trains, including shinkansen (bullet trains), limited express trains, local trains, and buses operated by JR companies throughout Japan for a specified period of time (typically 7, 14, or 21 days).
The JR Pass is designed to provide convenient and cost-effective travel options for tourists exploring Japan, offering access to a wide range of destinations from major cities to rural areas. It must be purchased outside of Japan and can only be used by visitors entering Japan under a “temporary visitor” status.
